Hanig's has other brands than Birkenstock. They have various styles of
Ugg boots and Merrell as well. I stopped in to finally cave to the
peer pressure and buy some Uggs. The man working there was very
knowledgeable. He told me they used to be great boots but the
Australian owner sold the company to a Chinese firm. He said the
quality has gone down significantly since then and he really doesn't
recommend them anymore. The guy at Hanig's also told me about how to spray the boots to prep
them for the winter salt which is what really causes damage (not the
water / snow). And he explained how you're not supposed to wear socks
(or all wool ones) so that the moisture wicks away through the
shearling.I've been very happy and really was glad to have gotten good information before making the purchase.
